Video Poker Rules and History

The object of Video Poker is to make the best five-card poker hand possible using only one exchange of cards.

Video Poker and Slots are the most popular machine games in most Las Vegas casinos. The fast-paced nature and simple game play make Video Poker a favorite with many casino visitors.

The first Video Poker machines were installed in the mid 1970s. Casino operators, sparked by the popularity of their Slot Machine games, were on the lookout for a game that combined elements of Slots with elements of a more traditional Vegas game (in this case, five-card draw poker). Today, Video Poker machines, often offering high progressive payouts, rival even the top Slot Machines on money brought in to the casino.
